MCOB Network Infrastructure Upgrade Project

Project Overview

All MCOB offices and classrooms will be affected by the upgrade, except for the Executive Education office (126) and the Giovanini Commons which have already received the new wiring.  

This project will begin shortly after Commencement and continue throughout the summer.  The work will be performed in 2-week phases that focus on one particular section of the building at a time.  For example, during one 2-week phase the 3rd floor’s west wing will be upgraded, and then during the next 2-week phase, the 3rd floor’s east wing will be upgraded.  Note that work within classrooms and meeting rooms will only be performed when the room’s official schedule is open.

There will be no network outages caused by this upgrade process.  Our current network infrastructure will continue to be functional while the entire building is being rewired.  Upon completion in September or October, all MCOB computers will be switched to the new network.

Impact on Your Office Space

In order to upgrade the network wiring to your office, the technicians performing the upgrade will need access to your office 3 times over a 2 week period.  None of the visits should last longer than a half hour.  The technicians will temporarily bypass any occupied offices in an effort to limit interruptions.

Access to the network wall plates in your office may require the technicians to temporarily move furniture to allow for the 3ft clearance needed to perform the work at the wall.  Every effort will be made to return your office to its original state once this work has been completed.
