Important Corporate Time Migration Reminders
December 19
Printable Version of this News Story

Corporate Time Users, Please read all the information below carefully as new information has been added.

Corporate Time will be shut down at 5PM on Friday, December 19, 2008 January 7, 2009.   During this time, your Corporate Time data from August 1, 2007 and later will be migrated into your Outlook Calendar or Entourage for Mac users and will be available on January 7, 2009 using Outlook for Windows users or Entourage for Mac users.  If you need data migrated prior to August 1, 2007, please contact us so that we can provide you with instructions.

Because you will not have access to your calendar from December 19th January 7th, you will need to print out a hard copy of your calendar for reference for these dates.
These instructions are found in the calendar conversion checklist under What do I need to do BEFORE 5pm on December 19th.

Note:  Beginning January 5th, you may notice entries populating into your Outlook or Entourage calendar.  Please do not use the calendar or rely on this pre-population of data until the calendar migration is complete on January 7th.

Will all of my Corporate Time entries be migrated?

For a complete list of what will be migrated, please visit OITs website at http://oit.nd.edu/exchange/calmigration.shtml.

What do I need to do BEFORE 5pm on December 19th

·         Follow Calendar Conversion Checklist:  Before you leave for the holiday, or before 5PM on Friday, December 19th, make sure read and follow the calendar conversion checklist.

Please read and follow the steps on this website BEFORE 5pm on December 19thhttp://oit.nd.edu/exchange/calendarprep.shtml.
Note:  Follow these steps to determine who you have given access rights to in Corporate Time:  http://mcobit.business.nd.edu/kb/kb.cfm?Action=NEWQuestion&gid=725

·         Things to Avoid over the next few weeks:  OIT recommends that you avoid doing the following things to ensure a smooth conversion of your calendar information:

o   Wait to schedule meetings in 2009, especially recurring meetings.  You will be able to schedule your meetings for 2009 when the Exchange calendar is ready on Wednesday, January 7th.

o   Wait to use the Exchange calendar until Wednesday, January 7th.  We know its tempting to start using the new calendar now, but the smoothest transition will occur if you refrain from using your Exchange calendar until its ready on Wednesday, January 7.

o   We highly recommend you DO NOT add any new appointments to your phone calendar until the migration is complete on January 7th.

o   DO NOT Sync your phone with your calendar after December 19th. Please contact Mendoza IT Help Desk when you return to campus so we can schedule an appointment to get your phone connected. DO NOT Sync your phone when you return until you have spoke with Mendoza IT.

What do I need to do AFTER the migration on January 7th?

·         Attend Training:  OIT will offer 75 training sessions during the week of January 5-9. There are four types of courses available, so please select carefully to ensure you attend training that is appropriate for you.  You only need to attend one course, if you elect to attend training.  The courses are as follows (course descriptions are provided in Endeavor). You can register online in Endeavor at http://www.hr.nd.edu/prodevelopment/Endeavor.shtml.  Note:  If you want to register from off campus, you must first connect to VPN.

o   Outlook Calendaring for General Users

o   Outlook Calendaring for Those Who Act As Designates for People

o   Entourage Calendaring (Mac users only) for General Users

o   Entourage Calendaring (Mac users only) for Those Who Act As Designates for People

·         Additional Training will be announced soon for those who are Resource Owners/Users. We will pass that along as soon as we have that information.

·         Setup Personal Designate Rights in your Outlook Calendar or Entourage for Mac Users:  If you need to allow others to access your calendar, you will need to reconfigure those access rights.   Note that this only applies to your personal calendar.  All resources will already be configured with appropriate rights.

·         Configure your SmartPhone, Blackberry, Palm devices to sync with your Outlook Calendar or Entourage for Mac users:  http://oit.nd.edu/exchange/smartphone_setup.shtml

Note:  If you are currently syncing your phone with Corporate Time using SyncML, SyncJE, or using just a Palm handheld device, please contact the Help Desk on or after January 7, 2009 so that we can help you in reconfiguring your device. DO NOT SYNC YOUR PHONE UNTIL WE HAVE RECONFIGURED IT.

Will I be able to access Corporate Time after the Migration?

On January 7th, you will be able to get back into Corporate Time so that you can compare your old calendar with your Outlook Calendar or Entourage Calendar for Mac users.  DO NOT use Corporate Time to schedule any appointments after December 19th.  If you schedule any appointments in Corporate Time after January7th, they will be lost when OIT turns off Corporate Time sometime in the Spring.  Beginning January 7, 2009, only use the Outlook Calendar or Entourage for Mac users.

If you have questions or need help registering, please contact the Mendoza IT Help Desk at 1-7896.

TAQ data update
December 3
Printable Version of this News Story
The TAQ data through July, 2008 is now available on R drive, under R:\cb_data\TAQ\. As of January 2006, NYSE began to split the quote data into two files for most dates due to the large size of the data. With further explosive growth more recently, the quote data has been split into as many as 10 files for a given date.

This change means any access program would need to account for multiple files for a given date in order to retrieve all the data. We created 2 files to facilitate accommodating this change programmatically. One file (DATE2_nqfiles.DAT) expands the DATE2 file to include the number of quote files, for the give date, in the last column. The other file (qfiles.txt) includes a list of all quote files and their corresponding range of ticker symbols. The file has 4 variables, including trading date, file name (without extension), beginning first letter of ticker symbol, and ending first letter of ticker symbol. The file format is as follows:

            (i8, 1x, a11, 1x, a1, 1x, a1)

Both files are located under R:\cb_data\TAQ\TAQOUT\ and will be updated at future data updates. Please contact the MCoB IT Research (1-9448 or 1-9089) if you have any questions and need assistance with accessing the TAQ data.
